Ruby-Throated Hummingbird (Female)
Hummingbirds are the tiniest birds in the world. On average they are 8-10 centimeters long (2 1/2 - 3 1/2 inches) and weight approximately 3 grams (less than 1/2 ounce). Hummingbirds are the only birds in the world that can fly forwards, backwards, sideways, and even upside-down. Hummingbirds can also hover in place for long periods of time and can fly at speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour (50 miles per hour). Some hummingbirds migrate over 3,200 kilometers (2,000 miles) each spring and fall. There are over 300 different species of hummingbirds that live in South, Central and North America.
"All things were created by our Lord Jesus Christ and without Him nothing would exist or could exist." (Colossians 1:16 paraphrase)
