Key #1 - First, The Bad News:
Due to our sin and disregard for God commands, our relationship with God has been broken and we are at risk of facing His righteous judgment, justice and condemnation. The Bible says, "There is no one who is righteous [in God's sight], not even one... For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God... It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment." (Romans 3:10&23, Hebrews 9:27).

Key #2 - Now, The Good News!
Filled with love and compassion for us, God sent His Son into the world to pay the full penalty for our sins. On the cross, Jesus willingly became our substitute, taking upon Himself all of the judgment and condemnation we rightfully deserve. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son...Christ died for our sins...He was buried and He rose again the third day...God demonstrated His own love for us in this, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." (John 3:16, 1 Corinthians 15:3, Romans 5:8).

Key #3 - He Is Alive!
After His death and resurrection (before He returned to heaven), Jesus appeared to hundreds of eyewitnesses offering extensive and irrefutable proof that He was indeed alive. His resurrection was so obvious, even His enemies did not deny it. "After His suffering [on the cross], He presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of 40 days...He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time." (Acts 1:3, 1 Corinthians 15:6).

Key #4 - A Free Gift for You!
Because Jesus paid the full price for your sins on the cross, God offers you complete forgiveness and eternal life without cost or effort on your part. This is true no matter who you are, where you live, or your family religion. It is the gift of God's undeserved grace. We receive this gift through simple childlike faith in Jesus Christ alone. In the Bible, the word "faith" means to believe in or rely on someone other than yourself. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but will have everlasting life...Whoever believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins through His name...For by grace are you saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not the result of your works." (John 3:16, Acts 10:43, Ephesians 2:8&9).

Key #5 - Simply Believe!
The moment that you believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again the third day, God declares that you are are no longer guilty in His sight. He forgives your sins once and for all and He pronounces that you are 'perfectly righteous' because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ which God credits to you freely by His undeserved grace. "This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified [declared righteous] freely by His grace through the redemption [the price paid] that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Him as a sacrifice of atonement through faith in His blood...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." (Romans 3:22-25, Acts 16:31).

"faith"
- to believe or trust
"Everyone who believes in Jesus Christ alone, receives forgiveness of sins... Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved... Words of Life
"substitute"-
take the place of

On the cross, Jesus became our substitute, taking our sins upon Himself, and being punished without mercy with the punishment we rightfully deserve. "By God's will, Jesus who was sinless, became a sin offering. He was sacrificed in our place, so we could have the perfect righteousness of God attributed to us in Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:21 paraphrase)

Words of Life
"gospel"
- good news

The gospel of Jesus Christ is good news for sinners like us. The two-fold message of the gospel is this; Jesus died for our sins and came back from the dead (alive and well) on the third day. No other religious leader in the history of the world has ever come back from the dead (they all died and stayed that way).

Words of Life
"incarnation"-
God became a man
God the Son (who was one with the Father from all eternity) became a human being when He was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit in the womb of the virgin Mary. He was born, having a physical body like other men, but without sin. He, being fully God,  became fully man - in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ (the God/Man).

Words of Life
"forgiven"-
No longer held responsible
One of the most wonderful and comforting words in all of the Bible is the word "forgiven." Through simple childlike faith in Jesus Christ, we are forgiven forever! On the cross, Jesus died in our place and God removed all of our guilt and shame. "Happy is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Happy is the person whose sins the Lord will never hold against them... I will forgive their iniquity and remember their sins no more." (Psalm 32:1&2; Jeremiah 31:34)

Words of Life
"Everlasting Life"
- to live forever
Spending all eternity in heaven is not a dream. It is an absolute certainty, promised by God to those who put their faith in Jesus Christ alone. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life... I give them eternal life and they will never perish... These things I write to you who believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know with certainty that you have eternal life." (John 3:16, 10:27-30, 1 John 5:13 paraphrase)

"Eternal Security"
- to be saved forever, with no possibility of ever being lost
Jesus said: “All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away... And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day...  I give unto them eternal life and they will never perish..."
