Heart of the Matter
"Heart of the Matter"
by Miles Stanford
"You. . . hath He reconciled." (Colossians 1:21)
Our Father's Cross-love was personal; we were there in the Son. Our Father's heart-love is personal; we are hidden there in the Son.
"Have you ever thought of the Father dealing with you not as to what you are in yourself, but as to where He has positioned you in His Son? Have you ever thought that it is the affections of the Father's heart which flow down to us where we are, seeing us in the Son, not in our poor wretched selves? What we are in the old man is not the thing to [view], but what we are, and where we are, in the Son; and what there is in the living affections of the Father, who has raised us up together with His Son, and has given us all heavenly blessings in Him." -G.V.W.
"Nothing can make up for a lack of personal acquaintance with the Lord Jesus. Intimacy with Himself is certainly the secret of true devotedness. Occupation with Him, the heart readily detects, and rejects the voice of the stranger, and cannot but own the Lord's claims to be paramount. Nothing so thoroughly tests the state of our hearts, as whether or not we have intimacy with the Lord Jesus Himself." -H.H.S.
"A great deal of our time is spent in learning that there is nothing here to meet the requirements of our new affections. There is a wandering in the wilderness in a solitary way, and yet no city is found to dwell in. But our Father allows this in order that His children may find that their desires can only be satisfied by and in Him. We must learn that we are not of this world." -J.B.S
"To present you holy and unblamable and unreprovable in His sight" (Colossians 1:22).
infallability - God's Word
God's Word Is Infallible
The words "infallible" and "infallibility" are often used to describe the absolute and perfect authority of God's Word - the Bible.
The Bible makes numerous statements about itself, stating that it is wholly the Word of God, absolute truth, unchangeable, and without error. Christian theologians describe the scripture as inerrant, infallible and authoritative; "Inerrancy relates to how the Word of God is without error, while infallibility refers to how the Scripture is authoritative...In all of God’s Word, there is an absolute standard and authority by which Christians are to ground their lives and ministries." - Dave Jenkins (Christianity.com)
From the very beginning of the church, Catholics and Protestants alike have believed in the inspiration an inerrancy of the Bible. “It was Augustine who first coined the term 'inerrant,' and Luther and Calvin...speak of Scripture as free from error. Down to the Second Vatican Council, Rome has attributed inerrancy to Scripture as the common view of the church throughout its history.” - Biologos.com
Martin Luther, quoting Augustine’s letter to Jerome, said, “I have learned to hold only the Holy Scripture inerrant.”
It needs to be said that there is absolutely no other source that can claim to be inspired by God, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative. The reason that religion is so divided and in disarray is because man’s ideas are often elevated to the point that they are considered equal with scripture. No church, pastor or pope can claim authority equal with scripture. Cults generally try to claim that the writings of their founders have equal authority with scripture (this is heresy). Most disagreements among Christians result from theology that is a mixture of scripture (which is perfect and church dogma (which is imperfect and contains error). The teachings of the church have changed along with cultural norms and standards, but the Bible has not changed in over 2000 years. All pastors and church leaders (and everyone else) should heed what Jesus said; “in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matthew 15.9)
“I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book .” Revelation 22.18
"The words of the Lord are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times." Psalm 12.6
"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." II Timothy 3.16
"For no prophecy [of Scripture] was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." II Peter 1.21
"The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple." Psalm 19.7 ESV
"...Your word is truth." John 17.17
"Every word of God proves true." Proverbs 30.5
"Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven." Psalm 119.89
"Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away." 24.35
"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever." Isaiah 40.8

"kiss the son" - Psalm 2
"A summit conference of the nations has been called to plot against the Lord and his Messiah, Christ the King." Psalm 2.2 TLB
In Psalm 2, we see the godlessness of Psalm 1 manifested in open rebellion against God’s authority. Likewise, we (as a people) are quickly abandoning the Biblical norms and standards upon which our nation was founded. Practices that God condemns are acceptable to most people today. Psalm 10.4 says: “God is not in all their thoughts.”
In Psalm 2.12, the writer hits us with an unusual command; “Kiss the Son”.
“Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled...Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him.” Psalm 2.12
Who is this Son and how do we kiss Him? The “Son” refers to Jesus Christ, the Messiah. In ancient times subjects would show their respect to a king by bowing down and kissing his hand or his ring.
God has so decreed that we must approach Him and honor Him through His Son. The sacrificial death of Jesus Christ is the only acceptable remedy for our sin and rebellion against God.
“That all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.” John 5.23
“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” I Timothy 2.5
“There is salvation in no one else! Under all heaven there is no other name for men to call upon to save them.” Acts 4.12 TLB
“Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man can come to the Father, but by me.” John 14.6
The Bible tells us that Jesus will ultimately be the judge before whom we must all appear. I fear for people that despise Him and take His name in vain. Kissing Him pictures reverence, faith, and trust.
Experiencing forever life in Heaven or endless suffering in Hell is a choice you must make. Your eternal destiny is determined by your attitude toward Jesus Christ.
"He that believes on Hm is not condemned: but he that does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." John 3.18
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved..." Acts 16:31
