What You Need to Know
No matter who you are or where you were born; no matter your nationality, background or religion; Jesus came down from heaven to give His life for you. The hundreds of miracles that He performed while He was on the earth (seen by thousands of eyewitnesses), and His resurrection from the dead (seen by several hundred eyewitnesses at once), prove conclusively that He was, and is, the promised Messiah; the Savior of the world; and God come to earth in human form.
Jesus loved you so much that He died on the cross to take away your sins. Then, three days later He came back to life again! His resurrection sets Him apart from every other religious leader, prophet, priest, or teacher in the history of the world. It demonstrates that He alone is the Son of God and the one true Savior. All of the others have died and stayed dead, never to be heard from again.
Because Jesus shed His blood for you, paying the full cost and penalty for your sins, God offers you salvation (forgiveness and eternal life) as a free gift, if you will simply put your faith in Jesus Christ alone. This might sound to good to be true, but it is true because of God's lovingkindness and compassion for you. The Bible makes it clear that salvation is the free gift of God's undeserved grace for those who are unworthy - like you and me!
You can never earn or achieve God's forgiveness by being religious, doing good works, or dedicating your life to Him. Self-righteous, personal devotion, or promising to live for Jesus, are utterly rejected as means of getting right with God. You must come to Him in all your sin and helplessness, or not at all. The reason for this is simple...
On the cross, Jesus became your substitute, suffering and dying in your place. All of the condemnation and wrath that you rightfully deserve for your sinfulness was poured out on Him. He willingly and lovingly took your punishment upon Himself, so that your guilt and shame could be removed forever. Simply, believe in Him (trust in Him) as your only Savior and you will have eternal life.
No matter your religion, or lack of religion, Jesus died for you! Then, He rose from the dead three days later. He is the only one who was powerful enough to overcome death! Jesus said: "I AM the resurrection and the life...I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through Me...I tell you the truth whoever believes has eternal life! I AM the Bread of Life!"
